Breast Augmentation enhances the size and shape of your breasts using implants. It is a procedure used to create natural looking breasts that are larger, fuller and more symmetrical. Candidates undergo breast augmentation surgery for a number of reasons, including reconstructive purposes and cosmetic reasons.
Almost anyone can get a breast augmentation, but the best candidates are healthy women above 18. Your expectations and your desired result will be discussed in detail with our plastic surgeon to determine if you are a suitable candidate for breast augmentation surgery.
The breast augmentation recovery process is different for everyone. After waking from the anaesthesia, you might feel dizzy or groggy, and you might experience slight nausea and vomiting in the following days. You might also suffer from tightness or pressure in the chest, as your muscles will need time to adjust to the implant.
You will be given a prescription for antibiotics and pain relief medication which you commence the day after surgery. You will go home with tight bandages and drainage tubes and will have an appointment 48 hours after surgery for removal of bandages and drains. At this appointment you will be fitted with a medical/sports bra.
We recommend a consultation with Dr Widdowson for you to understand details of the procedure. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should always seek a second opinion from a FRACS certified surgeon.
